Sea West partnered with Ash Manufacturing to construct the observatory wall system, coordinate the dome installation, and provide consulting services for the development of the Eau Claire Observatory.

About the observatory

The Eau Claire Observatory was developed as a private astronomical facility designed to provide a dedicated space for observing and imaging the night sky. Built around a classic Ash Dome structure, the observatory combines proven dome design with modern infrastructure to create a reliable environment for astronomical equipment and long-term operation.

Sea West Observatories was involved throughout the project, helping transform the owner’s vision into a fully realized observatory capable of supporting advanced astronomical pursuits while maintaining the durability and performance expected from a professional-grade installation.

Project Scope

Sea West Observatories was brought into the project during the planning and construction phases to provide observatory consulting and installation services. Working closely with the client, Sea West helped evaluate site requirements, infrastructure needs, and dome integration considerations to ensure the facility would be properly prepared for long-term observatory operations.

A key component of the project involved the construction of the wall system that supports the observatory dome. Sea West built the wall structure to provide a stable and durable foundation for the Ash Dome installation while ensuring proper alignment and functionality of the completed observatory.

Following construction of the support structure, Sea West coordinated and executed the crane installation of the Ash Dome. The dome was carefully positioned and secured to the wall system, ensuring proper fitment and operation. Through each stage of the project, Sea West provided guidance on observatory layout, infrastructure planning, and installation best practices to help deliver a facility that was both functional and prepared for future astronomical equipment integration.

Partners

Sea West worked closely with Ash Manufacturing and the observatory owner throughout the design and installation process. Through collaboration and careful planning, the project successfully delivered a custom observatory facility that combines proven dome technology with quality construction and long-term reliability.
