Faulkes Telescope North
Sea West installed a 2-meter telescope on Mount Haleakala on the island of Maui, Hawaii
About the observatory
Faulkes Telescope North is located on Mount Haleakala on the island of Maui, Hawaii and sits 3,000 meters above sea level. In 2003 it experienced first light with the goal to conduct research using its 2-meter Ritchey-Chrétien telescope. Faulkes Telescope North is now owned and operated by Las Cumbres Observatory.
Sea West was awarded the design build contract for the construction of the observatory site, foundations and superstructures, control room, custom clamshell dome, and telescope installation.
Sea West partnered with Telescope Technologies Limited who was in charge of engineering and fabrication of the clamshell dome and installed the large 2-meter telescope setup. Additionally, Kershaw Roofing clad the clamshell dome with a PVC membrane.
