About the observatory

The University of Utah South Physics Observatory is a versatile facility used for educational purposes, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with telescopic observations and data analysis. The observatory supports research projects in addition to holding public stargazing events.

Project Scope

The University of Utah was designing a new science building and wanted to upgrade their existing South Physics Observatory. The new observatory needed to be designed to continue the tradition of their research and public outreach programs. With those goals in mind, Sea West partnered with EDA Consulting to create a set of construction documents for the new rooftop observatory that would feature an Ash 14’-6” dome.

Partners

Sea West partnered with the University of Utah, Ash Manufacturing, and EDA Architects.
